Dr. Maged Bakhet
Dr. Bakhet is an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist (“OBGYN”) with over 30 years of experience. He received his medical degree from Egypt in 1984 and further received his diploma in OBGYN care from Cairo, Egypt in 1990.
Dr. Bakhet then received his MRCOG certification from the United Kingdom’s Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 1997. He also received a diploma in Advanced Obstetric Ultrasound from the Royal College of Obstetricians and the Royal College of Radiologists from the United Kingdom in 2001. He further received a certification in Colposcopy from the United Kingdom's Society of Colposcopist.
Dr. Bakhet moved to Canada in 2000, where he initially practiced as an OBGYN in Newfoundland. Dr. Bakhet received his FRCSC certification in 2003 from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Dr. Bakhet then moved to British Columbia in 2005 and began practicing with the OBGYN department at Surrey Memorial Hospital (“SMH”)l in 2008.
Dr. Bakhet has played an active role in SMH’s OBGYN department, assuming the role of the local department head during a 2-year period.Dr. Bakhet has a special interest in Urogynecology (ie. genital prolapse and incontinence) as well as an interest in minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Bakhet further has extensive experience in providing care for menopausal women. Dr. Bakhet has a long history of providing the highest level of care, as evidenced by his continued committed to providing obstetric care in high-risk pregnancies.
Dr. Bakhet is also a clinical associate professor at the University of British Columbia and the Memorial University of Newfoundland, where Dr. Bakhet has mentored an extensive number of aspiring doctors. He is further a member of many societies, including the SOGC and the AAGL, amongst others.
Dr. Bakhet is also a board member of Health for Humanity (“H4H"), a not-for-profit organization providing medical care to under-serviced areas globally. Dr. Bakhet has recently started incorporating radio-frequency treatment into his practice, with the goal of utilizing this technology in order to provide a wide variety of non-invasive services for his patients.
